Kristen Cornett joined the 31 Doppler Max Storm Team in May 1997.

She serves primarily as the weekend meteorologist, but also tracks storms in the field or in the weather office in times of severe weather.

Before coming to WAAY-TV, Kristen worked at WCBI-TV in Columbus, MS. She was the weekend weather anchor there while finishing her degree at Mississippi State University. Kristen graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geoscience with an emphasis in Broadcast Meteorology in May 1997.

Kristen was raised on a horse farm in Lexington Kentucky. She attended the University of Kentucky for two years before transferring to MSU to study Meteorology. While initially considering a medical career, Kristen realized that she would only be happy in a field related to her passion for the weather. She has always been fascinated by the fury of mother nature, and is especially interested in hurricanes and tornadoes.

When not monitoring the ever changing weather conditions, Kristen loves to follow Kentucky basketball, travel, and spend time appreciating the great outdoors.
